Hi! How are you all doing? I hope you are all doing well. Did you try the breakfast bars? I really like them, but I need to stock up on ripe frozen bananas.
I think I mentioned before, that when I was coming back from Hawaii in December the airport food was really lacking. I wasn’t as prepared with snacks that we could eat, and it didn’t help that our plane was delayed for over three hours. When I got home, I said to myself I need to figure something else to do so we have something decent to eat when traveling.
My son suggested backpacking food. That was a great idea since there are plant-based options, and you can get hot water from a coffee shop (even if you have to pay for the hot water). I started looking into various food options.
Amazon has several options. We purchased Reese Lentil Harvest Bowls for our upcoming RV trip. It was a great deal, and you can eat the bowl as it or heat it up. This would be great traveling by plane. We enjoyed the bowls and are going to be trying their other bowl options. They are vegan and non-GMO.
We also purchased Bob’s Red Mill Instant Mashed Potatoes which is vegan and non-GMO. This would be more suited for camping/rving when you can’t always bring potatoes. This is even great to keep at home, when you want mashed potatoes in a jiffy.
We also purchased Better Oats Instant Multigrain Hot Cereal. This is vegan and non-GMO. I thought we tried making them in the packet, but I don’t see that it says you could. You can use Ziploc freezer quart size bags or purchase boil cook bags. You’re probably thinking I don’t want to cook my food in plastic, but when you have no other options you can try this. If you are camping/rving you can add this to a bowl and add hot water. This would be great to have at home if you need something quick.
We also purchased an EVATEK small electric kettle. It works great in the RV for boiling water quickly and I even use it at home to soak cashews.
Something we purchased at Grocery Outlet was Once Again Unsweetened Peanut Butter. It comes in packets that are 1.15 ounces. This is great for traveling and it is organic.
In the next email I will share more food items I purchased that can be used when traveling.
If you have any suggestions of what you do, please let us know.
