Hi! How are you all doing? I hope you are all well. Have you found some other ways to use flaxseeds? Let us know what you did.
In Dr. Greger’s cookbook How Not to Die he lists 10 ways to use flaxseeds:
Sprinkle into oatmeal.
Shake onto salads.
Add to smoothies.
Use as a binder in plant-based burgers.
Add to homemade crackers.
Use in your homemade energy bites.
Sprinkle on soups.
Use as a binder in baked goods.
Sprinkle on grain dishes.
Use as a thickener in sauces.
Flaxseeds can also be used as an egg replacer. For each egg in the recipe, whisk one tablespoon of ground flaxseeds with three tablespoons of water until the mixture becomes gooey. Unlike chicken eggs, “flax eggs”, are cholesterol free and packed with soluble fiber to bring your cholesterol down.
In Dr. Greger’s book How Not to Die he has a recipe for flax crackers. Mix two cups of ground flaxseeds with a cup of water, add whatever herbs and spices you want and then spread the dough thinly on a parchment or silcone lined baking sheet. Score the dough into thirty-two crackers and bake at 400 F for about twenty minutes. He used 1/2 teaspoon each of smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. I haven’t made these crackers yet, when I get more flaxseeds I will try it.
In the Weekly Edition #11 there is a recipe for vegan blueberry flax breakfast muffins. This a tasty muffin recipe that uses flaxseeds.
You also can make hair gel with flaxseeds.
I came across the following YouTube video where she makes a loaf of bread, tortillas, and crackers using flaxseeds. As soon as I get more flaxseeds I would like to try them. They look easy to make. I do have flaxseeds now, but not quite enough to make these recipes. Let me know if you try any of it.
Stay tuned next time to find out benefits of eating quinoa and some tasty recipes to try.

Line crisper drawers, bowls, and storage containers with paper towels to wick away any unwanted moisture. I also put a paper towel in the plastic spinach or mixed greens container that I buy at the grocery store to help reduce moisture.
